Ocadia sinensis (Gray1870b) Family: Geoemydidae Chinese Stripe-necked Turtle Status: Uncertain
Description: A medium sized turtle with a carapace up to 24 cm long and a relatively long tail. The carapace is brown to black. Juveniles have three low discontinuous keels that generally disappear with age. The plastron is yellow often with a dark blotch on each scute. The skin of the legs, neck, and head, is tan to black with numerous thin yellow stripes.
Biology: An aquatic species that is fond of basking. In its native range it inhabits slow moving bodies of water with a soft bottom. Adults are mostly herbivorous.
Distribution: This turtle is native to China, Taiwan, and northern Vietnam (Ernst and Barbour 1989). Four individual ranging in size from 10 -25 cm CL were captured at Agana Springs on Guam between 1999 and 2003 (Leberer 2003). None have been seen since that time.
